Connecting an EDF or E.ON tariff works again | PredBat

If you tried to connect an EDF or E.ON tariff to PredBat between 15 August and 6 September, the wizard led nowhere: the tile highlighted, no login appeared, and Continue stayed greyed out. That is fixed, and choosing either provider now takes you to their sign-in. If you worked around it by picking "Other provider" and typing your rates in by hand, it is worth connecting properly, because hand-entered rates do not follow the provider when prices change. What was actually broken The handover to the provider's login had exactly one call site, and it sat inside a beta notice. When EDF and E.ON came out of beta that notice stopped being rendered, and it took the only route to the login with it. Nothing failed and nothing was logged, because from the wizard's point of view nothing had gone wrong: the tile recorded your choice and then had no next step to offer. The handover now lives on the tile handler itself, where a change to the surrounding copy cannot gate it away, and a test holds it there. Three weeks, and no support tickets This is worth recording rather than quietly fixing. A dead end that looks like a page still loading does not generate support tickets. People assume the button is slow, or that they have missed a step, and go and do something else. The only visible symptom was an absence, and an absence is not something a customer thinks to report. The practical consequence is that we cannot rely on the ticket queue to tell us when an onboarding path has stopped working. A route that used to be reachable and is now unreachable has to be caught by a test, not by someone complaining. If you typed your rates in by hand Hand-entered rates are a snapshot of what your tariff cost on the day you entered them. They do not change when your supplier's prices change. PredBat plans against the rates it holds, so a stale rate produces a confident plan built on prices that no longer exist, which is a harder problem to spot than an obviously broken one. Running the tariff wizard again and choosing your provider replaces the snapshot with a live connection. Nothing else about your setup changes, and your existing plan keeps running until the new rates arrive.
